Dr. Adam Summers is a board certified plastic surgeon, Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery, and successful entrepreneur. He has been ranked by Newsweek/Statistia among the “Top 100 Plastic Surgeons in the United States”.

Dr. Summers has founded several successful million-dollar businesses, including (1) MediGroup® Physician Services which provides the benefits of group purchasing to over 200,000 physicians; (2) Maryland Plastic Surgery Center and PURE MedSpa, the first fully integrated cosmetic surgery center and medical spa in Maryland; and (3) the series of Fantastic Companies™ including Patient Approved®, which is recognized as a leading patient satisfaction and practice enhancement company.  In addition, Dr. Summers has several other ventures, such as the Essential Card™, which are under development.

PHILANTHROPY – Passionate about helping others, Dr. Summers founded the MediGroup Foundation, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization, which is committed to help deserving individuals and communities. Examples of the Foundation’s work includes the Make a Veteran Smile program and the MediGroup CARES initiatives.

TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT – Prior to his career as a surgeon, Dr. Summers assembled network systems (including Novell, token-ring, VAX, and early IP-addressed systems). Since 1984, Dr. Summers has developed software systems for healthcare clinics, hospitals, and the government. This includes systems to analyze large volumes of brain tumor data, VAX/VMS order-entry systems, and healthcare taxonomy systems. He created the first medical CME conference hosted by Apple Computer in 1992.  In 1994, he created the first multimedia surgical skills program to be placed in the U.S. National Library of Medicine.  He has received over $100,000 in research grants for developing technology from leading industry vendors, including Johnson & Johnson and U.S. Surgical.
